United re-sign Scholes with midfielder set for stunning return against City in FA Cup

Paul Scholes has sealed a stunning return to Manchester United.

The former England midfielder has signed until the end of the season and has been named on the bench for Sunday's FA Cup tie against Manchester City.

Scholes retired from football at the end of last season and had taken up a coaching role at Old Trafford.

Scholes said: 'I’ve been pretty clear since I stopped playing that I miss it. I’m delighted the manager feels I can still make a contribution to the team and I’m looking forward to playing my part in trying to bring more success to this great club.'

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson said: 'It’s fantastic that Paul has made this decision. It’s always sad to see great players end their careers, but especially so when they do it early.

'But he has kept himself in great shape and I always felt that he had another season in him. It’s terrific to have him back.'

Scholes retired three days after United lost to Barcelona in the Champions League final in Wembley last May.

He made 676 appearances for his hometown club, scoring 150 goals and admitted that retiring was not a decision he took lightly.

Scholes' testiomonial match was held in August as the New York Cosmos visited Old Trafford. Fittingly, the midfielder opened the scoring as the home side romped to a 6-0 win.

As Ashley Young now wears Scholes' old No 18 shirt, the 37-year-old has been handed the No 22 jersey.

球証再一次莫名其妙 咁偏幫曼聯................
kompany 一下正常不過o既攔截, 竟然係換o黎吹罰兼紅牌出場.............
係咪佢唔係大英子民就嚴厲d ???
拎住英國護照就連手球都當睇唔到 !?!?

兩邊o既入球都係冇乜好爭議的.............
rooney 1 - 0 有少少好運, 個頭鎚擦眉底入...............
2 - 0 曼城 輸 de jong , 如果佢唔係避 , 舉一舉腳 或者 唔縮開 , welback 未必射得咁輕鬆...........
3 - 0 球十二碼十分合理 , rooney 射得好差, 龍門盡左本份擋到, 可惜擋返去 rooney 前面........
1 - 3 罰球射得好靚.............
